THIS ONE IS IN DUTCH – Earlier this year, Andrew didn’t come home from a fishing trip. For an experienced sailor and fisherman (as well as a boat builder) who knew the ins and out of the far north Queensland waterways this was highly unusual. After much antagonizing Erica, Andrew’s Dutch spouse, who had been sailing, living on the water with Andrew for the last 15 or so years sounded the alarm. After an extensive search, the couple’s small fishing boat was found, upside down among the mangroves, heavily damaged. Andrew had fallen victim to a saltwater crocodile measuring 4.5 meters in length. In this interview Erica recalls the harrowing experience, talks about the beauty of nature and life on the water. I had the honour of attending a virtual press conference / presso by the QLD Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Young. She updated us on the vaccination efforts in QLD. We are a bit behind actually, but I didn’t know that at the time…  Our head-med-honcho is possitive though that we can do this… I cut down her hour long talk to about 10 minutes. Take the vaccine, even if you are healthy. The thing is safe. Also, it’s free! If people ask for money they are scammers. Phase 1a is underway… That’s pretty much the message. Oh, there is some Dutch, but not a lot, in there.
