THIS ONE IS IN DUTCH – In a previous broadcast on 4EB I chronicled some of the history of one of the most awesome ugly buildings in Amsterdam, the Olympic Stadium. I say that it’s an ugly building with all the love in the world. It’s iconic, it’s part of my hometown, it has a rich history… and, yes. It’s not particularly attractive (if you ask me, and you didn’t but I am telling you anyway). Someone who knows a lot about the rich and colorful history of that stadium is its former managing director and my friend Hans Lubberding. The interview presented here previously aired in my JEROEN OM JE OREN broadcast of August 8. That photo, by the way is of Hans posing by a painting of one of my all-time favorite Dutch musicians Herman Brood, depicting the only football club worth writing about, Ajax who incidentally used the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam for their international matches until they moved into the stadium, then called Amsterdam Arena that is next door where I used to work… Coincidence? I think Not!
