A DUTCH GUY IN AUSTRALIA
YOU HAVE FOUND MY SAFE SPACE!
In the greater scheme of things this is likely one of the less significant sources of information you can come across. Frankly, it’s mostly trivial and benign. Also, we all know that the text you are reading right now serves no other purpose than to fill this page. I have no illusions otherwise. This is therefore a safe space in that there is no expectation on my behalf that you will spend more than a fleeting second here. That being said, this is my collection of stuff that doesn’t quite fit on the likes of Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Lastly, you may just find the stray Oxford comma here and there…
ABOUT ME
Me
OUD EN VERSLETEN.
In case you didn’t notice, some of what you might read here is in Dutch. You see, I was born in the Netherlands, in Amsterdam to be exact, in 1970. I spent quite some time chasing up all kinds of dreams. Music, poetry, arts, graphic design, pantomime… But the one thing that stuck happened fairly early on, in 1983-ish. I was asked to participate in a series of radio programs on Dutch national radio for a broadcast network called AVRO. It made way for my podcasting adventures years later and an internationally acclaimed series of features produced for the Tulsa Police Department. Since moving to Brisbane, I am back behind the microphone. First making programs for 4EB and now as the Sunday arvo jock for local rock-mob 99.7 – Bridge FM. I am also the Queensland correspondent for SBS Dutch. You can take the boy out of radio, but you can’t take radio out of the boy!
